A vision for peace and unity
Peacepace Initiative, established on March 25, 2017, is a youth-led nonprofit, nongovernmental organisation dedicated to promoting positive peace in Nigeria through its network of young ambassadors and volunteers across the country’s six geopolitical zones. Nigeria, like any other nation, is not insulated from challenges.
The challenges our nation faces, however, are complex and endemic and reflect our diverse and dynamic setting. Home to over 200 million people who are divided into over 250 ethnic groups and speak more than 300 indigenous languages, only a few nations worldwide match the richness of Nigeria’s diversity.
Unfortunately, what separates us seems to be more than what unites us as a people, which contributes to the violent conflicts relatively experienced across our nation. Nevertheless, we believe that peace is possible, and our diversity and common heritage can and should be a blessing to be leveraged for progress and development.
This is our motivation, and it is on this strong belief that Peacepace is founded to address some of the endemic challenges battling our nation. While peace is our central theme, we are not oblivious of the fact that peace, positive peace, is not a one-way traffic.
Our vision is to be a leading organisation that promotes Positive Peace in Nigeria – and, by extension, Africa and the world – through education, conflict resolution, training, and relevant advocacy across our mission pillars.
Our Mission Statement
Our mission statement is three-pronged as follows:
Since 2017, we have implemented various projects across our focus areas, involving audiences as diverse as high school teenagers, the youth, and traditional leaders and in partnership with individuals, like-minded organisations, and government and nonpartisan agencies within and outside Nigeria. We are committed to continuing this.
